PaperStreet’s 2nd Annual

Shades of Pink

Digital ACEO Collage Challenge

Divisions by Charlotte Self (2008)

We’re now accepting entries for the 2nd Annual “Shades of Pink” Digital ACEO Collage Challenge. October’s just around the corner & last year Yahoo! donated money for breast cancer research based on the amount of pink images submitted to various flickr groups. If they’re doing so again, we’ll be submitting all contest entries to these groups… and if not, we’ll show them off here. Either way, we’ve got prizes for the winners, so read the guidelines, grab some free collage sheets & get creating!

Pink” is once again the theme. ACEO collages are traditionally 2.5″ x3.5″ (trading card sized), though we will be accepting any pink collage submissions. It’s for a good cause after all :)

We are offering 6 free digital collage sheets to help spark your creativity.

Feel free to message us with any questions or comments.

We are not requiring that you use these images, as we did last year. Instead, you’re welcome to incorporate whatever elements you have access to & create any pink themed collage you’d like. We do want to keep the contest family friendly – nudity is acceptable, but nothing pornographic please. Images deemed distasteful will be removed at our discretion.

We also ask that you join and cross post your pink images to the flickr groups when they open in October (we’ll let you know). Your pictures can help raise money for breast cancer research!

We’re baaaack!

Posted by: Kenneth Rougeau    in Catch of the Day, Collage Sheets, Store News, blog, kenneth rougeau

Well, not entirely, but I’ve finally found the time to get the shop working again. In fact, by the end of the week we should be running better than ever. Not only do we have TONS of new collage sheets to list, but we’re now able to offer a choice of file formats. You’ll now be able to download either JPEG or PDF versions of our images immediately after your payment is processed (usually just seconds).

PaperStreet’s “Catch of the Day” newsletter is currently on hold, but in lieu I’ll be posting fresh articles of interest to artists here on the blog. I do hope to get the daily newsletter going again soon, but right now time’s are lean and I have to manage my time pretty carefully. I _love_ sharing all the shiny things I find with my readers, but it takes a lot of time to put all that content together and I just haven’t got it to spend currently. *sniff* I miss you guys though!!

Keep checking back. We should be running at full steam by this weekend.

Thanks for your patience & your support,
- Ken @ http://paperstreetsupplies.com

Site News (10-29-2008) – Searching

Posted by: Kenneth Rougeau    in Collage Sheets, Store News, Websites, blog, kenneth rougeau

I thought I was going to get to spend some time today catching up on everything, but instead ended up fighting the Search function on our website all day long. I’ve known for awhile now that the built in Search function wouldn’t catalog our product pages – why I don’t know, that’s just the way it works… The people who created our nifty Shopping Cart system have a Search add-on that I could buy, but it would only appear on the Product Pages & so I don’t think anyone would ever even see or notice it, lol.  Sooo… I spent the day trying out different Wordpress Search plugins – fun fun fun, let me tell you. *sigh*

I finally came across one that sounded like it would do exactly what I needed – Search Unleashed, which says it will index every page/post on your Wordpress site… Well, in short, they lied.

Out of the box, I was able to search our blog posts and any standard pages, but it wasn’t searching beyond the first product page so only 15 or 20 collage sheets were being indexed. I couldn’t live with that – we’ve got almost 500 collage sheets and we plan to triple that number in short order! Sooo… back to the drawing board I went and, after a whole lot of trial and error, teeth gnashing, and some fun with tourettes, I came up with a solution that now has 80% of our products searchable – try it out! The Search box should be in the upper right corner of the website.

Currently, there are a few categories which were too large on their own to index properly, meaning that I’ll need to break them all into subcategories before you’ll be able to find them with the Search box. The categories that are missing currently are: Fantasy & Science Fiction, Text & Ephemera, People, and Catch of the Day issues. If you’re looking for collage sheets in these categories, please use the Product Categories menu on the right.

I’ll be working on getting the rest of the items into the Search function ASAP & will post an update as soon as I know for sure that they’re working properly.

Thanks for your patience!

PS: Just in case you’re wondering, the image above is an artist’s depiction of the construction of the Tower of Babel… The image is public domain & you’re welcome to steal it if you want it ;) Enjoy!
