Nikolas Tantsoukes creates cunningly crafted handcut paper collages featuring fractured characters and Kafkaesque cityscapes that put me in mind of film noir as seen in a funhouse mirror.

In his Stadtleben (City Life) series, Tantsoukes gives us a window into a shadowy other-verse with collage titles such as “The wicked uncle / You won`t laugh no more“, “Strange Behaviour” and “…as a proof of his affection he would read to her his favorite poems every day…“.

“... And Salvador Dali tells us where the villain has hidden …” is part of Nikolas’ schwarze serie (black series), a collection of surrealistically twisted portraiture on black backgrounds. Serie orange (orange series) contains similairly surreal collage portraits, only on bright orange backgrounds.

"Strange Behaviour"

Nikolas Tantsoukes continues his unusual paper collage character creations in his latest series, “Come As You Are“, a set of vibrantly colorfuly images with a bizarre, but decidedly feminine feel to them. Titles include “Miss Lipstick“, “Beautyqueen“, and “”Nachtfalter” (“Moth”).
