We’re baaaack!

Posted by: Kenneth Rougeau    in Catch of the Day, Collage Sheets, Store News, blog, kenneth rougeau

Well, not entirely, but I’ve finally found the time to get the shop working again. In fact, by the end of the week we should be running better than ever. Not only do we have TONS of new collage sheets to list, but we’re now able to offer a choice of file formats. You’ll now be able to download either JPEG or PDF versions of our images immediately after your payment is processed (usually just seconds).

PaperStreet’s “Catch of the Day” newsletter is currently on hold, but in lieu I’ll be posting fresh articles of interest to artists here on the blog. I do hope to get the daily newsletter going again soon, but right now time’s are lean and I have to manage my time pretty carefully. I _love_ sharing all the shiny things I find with my readers, but it takes a lot of time to put all that content together and I just haven’t got it to spend currently. *sniff* I miss you guys though!!

Keep checking back. We should be running at full steam by this weekend.

Thanks for your patience & your support,
- Ken @ http://paperstreetsupplies.com

UberSpoofs: Literal Videos & Sleeveface

Posted by: Kenneth Rougeau    in Art, Artists, Music, Websites, blog, humor, parody, performance art

Hey! Get Away From My Magic Frame!
Hey! I Told Ya To Stay Away From My Magic Frame!

Ever wish songs just sang what was happening in the music video? Well now they do.” says Dustin McLean, aka DustoMcNeato, one of the foremost talents in the current “literal video” trend that’s taking the metaverse by storm & cracking my ass up in the process. Dustin & his crew have now created “literal video” interpretations of several pop music videos including a-ha’s “Take On Me“, “Head Over Heels” by Tears For Fears, and most recently “Under The Bridge” by The Red Hot Chili Peppers.

Whyd that janitor walk there?
Why’d that janitor walk there?

These “literal videos” are riotious spoofs that are especially brilliant for making fun of the obvious absurdities in music videos. I had trouble breathing I was laughing so hard watching their version of “Take On Me” for the first time, and I still find myself humming strange lines from the literal version of “Head Over Heels” on a daily basis. Dustin & company are by no means the only ones getting in on the action – there are several other great literal video retakes surfacing out there, more and more every day! KeithFK was inspired by what he saw & has created a couple of his own, including a great literal video version of “No Surprises” by Radiohead.

Not enough musical spoofiness to satisfy you? Me neither! So check this madness out :)

Sleeveface is an internet phenomenon wherein one or more persons obscure or augment body parts with record sleeve(s), causing an illusion. The precise origin of the concept is unknown. A collection of photographs was posted online at Waxidermy.com in early 2006, but a 2008 BBC article claims the idea was created by a group of people in Cardiff, Wales. Cardiff’s Carl Morris is compiling a book on the subject. One case of a “sleeveface” before the internet phenomenon and website, was the album cover by DJ J Rocc, whose own sleeve (front and back) was done in the group sleeveface style.

PaperStreet Receives Makeover

Posted by: Kenneth Rougeau    in Store News, Websites, art supplies, blog, kenneth rougeau

PaperStreet Supplies Receives Makeover!

*

I’ve been toiling away on the website for some time now, just moving full speed ahead like any good juggernaut would, and didn’t notice until yesterday that Our Store behaves erratically in Internet Explorer. I spent a good portion of my already hectic day yesterday trying to debug the crazy thing and get it to work properly, but to no avail. Sooo…

Rather than pull any more of my hair out or waste any more valuable time trying to fix it, I’m going to be looking into other themes for the site. As much as I’ve come to like this nifty four-column layout, I think it may be a bit too busy & of course the problems with IE are a deal breaker.

Expect to see some major revamping. The site may even be “broken” here or there as I try to change things around. If you’re here reading a post and suddenly find yourself on what looks like a completely different website – that’s me, poking around here in the background ;) It shouldn’t affect any site functionality (ie, you can still shop, read, comment, etc), just aesthetics – so even while we’re under construction, PaperStreet Supplies is still your source for instantly downloadable high quality, high resolution digital collage sheets!

Thanks for your patience & for your support,
- Kenneth Rougeau

What’s it got to do with this post? Nothing really…

UPDATE:

Alright! The sites new look is in place & all sorts of spiffy IMHO. Charlotte & I are both thrilled with the switch. Let us know if you’ve got any thoughts on the matter one way or another, otherwise I’ll just be steamrolling on again. The big stuff is done, but there’s still a lot of minor adjusting to do (all product image thumbnails have to be resized manually, which is slooow) & I’m sure you’ll notice little changes here and there over the next day or three as I get things a bit more where we’d like them. – Ken
