Marianne Lettieri:
Illumination

Illumination
by Marianne Lettieri
“My art is about connecting disparate elements so that we see something differently or better understand a larger truth. The quest for the magical moment when forgotten castoffs, found objects, and ordinary detritus become purposeful imagery is central to my work. Currently, I am exploring issues of consumerism, memory, and contradiction. I grew up on Cape Canaveral during the race to the moon between the US and USSR. Visual juxtapositions, such as missile gantries rising over palmetto scrubs and rosette spoonbills taking flight at the rumble of a rocket launch, created for me a lasting appreciation for images that are at once familiar and unsettling.” – Marianne Lettieri
