“I hate putting titles to my images, but when i do they usually mean little to nothing at all. My images are meant to be whatever you think they are, not what i tell you. Sort of like choose your own adventure books, only it’s choose your own backstory instead. And so i prefer to present them to you at face value and nothing more, that way you can react in whatever way you will, without my influencing you with an explanation of why [or how] i’ve done what i did and what it all ‘means’.” – Caryn Drexl

Artwork by Michael Sprouse(http://www.sprouseart.com)

“As an artist, I find that the most memorable art, regardless of its style, all share one common characteristic – it’s the ability to sucessfully tell a story. Since the birth of communication, humanity has been connected to the ’story’. We are lulled to sleep by them as children, enthralled by them on the stage and screen as adults, and are compelled to share our own with the young as we drift into senior-hood. I have always been fascinated by the imagery of early silent film and vintage photography and the ’stories’ they portrayed. It is the same focus on silent communication, delivered only by expression that motivates my work today. I use in-depth expression in my work to relate interpersonal stories of lost love, hope, fear, desire, dedication, wistful remembrances and more. The faces I paint are symbolically reminiscent of vague and vintage dream landscapes which focus on the metaphoric mood and flow of each person’s individual story.” – Michael Sprouse

“I have been involved in art since I was 11 or so, way back in the 70’s. In that time, I have created a large catalog of work in photography and illustration, and my commercial work in design and animation has been seen on Cartoon Network, Animal Planet, Nickelodeon, CBS, TNT, TBS, PBS, and TechTV. I create all my work digitally, mostly starting with a blank screen and using the mouse or a pen and graphics tablet to create an image. I use scans in my collage work, but everything else is painted or drawn within the computer. My wife and I have an Etsy shop of Customizable Art for Kids called motanddot. Please check it out.”
